Angela and Kevin ended their epic weekend celebration with a beautiful Chicago wedding that featured a Catholic ceremony at the historic Holy Name Cathedral, a truly unique and beautiful church right in the middle of downtown Chicago. The ample church had plenty of room for one of the largest wedding parties I’ve seen in a while, which also gives me even more to document, so no complaints here!
I have photographed numerous weddings, but Angela and Kevin’s wedding had something truly unique, something I have never seen in any other wedding celebration. A groom wearing a horse head mask.
We started our day at the Congress Hotel then traveled to Millennium Park to document a first look between the bride and groom, which is when they see each other for the first time in their wedding attire. It was decided to blindfold Kevin as we all traveled in a bus together to our first look location along with their wedding party. Somehow, the blindfold turned into a horse head mask. I don’t know how, but I loved documenting it. I’ve never shot a wedding couple cruising through Chicago with a masked groom, and I loved every minute of it.
After the wedding ceremony, we traveled to Kevin’s parents home for a private Indian ceremony where the couple crosses the threshold and feeds each other cake, something Kevin had a tough time doing in a visually appealing way, which we found hilarious.
Angela changed from a lace wedding gown to a traditional Indian sari for their gorgeous wedding reception at the Harold Washington Library. The expansive atrium with its exquisite glass roof was perfect for such a large guest count. The speeches were touching and the evening ended just how it began, with a lot of love in one room! Thank you so much, Angela and Kevin, for asking me to be your Chicago wedding photographer. I wish you nothing but continued happiness!
